is it safe for female americans?

Is it safe to travel to Maravatio Michoacan and surrounding areas for a adult american female?  I would fly into Morelia and travel to Maravatio and also see family in Jaunataro and Acumbaro.  Please provide me information.  I am thinking of traveling end of February and first of March?

it is not really safe in Michoacan. You should stay as much time as possible with people You know.
