How to make more user activity in QA sites?

Hi, I have question and answer site(just one month old)!

Still not getting target users. Want to know how to make more user interactivity in our QA sites.

Any idea, strategy or any good links will help.. :)

I would say that the most important feature is a facebook login. I don´t use facebook, but ALL the other people around. As well a ask box on front without registering should work. It is easier accessible.

The second point is, to choose a topic which is widely spreaded. For example on Your excellent site I was looking which question I could give an answer for, but very most questions are very specific. So I did not. So, specialized topics obviously will need more time to get a lot of users.

My first plan was to make a question site for a special travel destination. I looked to Yahoo Answers and found that over all the years they just had 1900 questions ! The place is visited by 2 Million people a year. Bahhhh.

Once ready with my site I will dedicate to enter thousands of questions, some with answers, some without. I plan about 10 or 20 EACH day with different users. than I will link from my other sites and exchange links and write about my site in blogs and forums.

With time google will list more and more pages, and the bigger the number, the more traffic will be there, and one day in a far future, a real community will build.

Yes you are correct.
1) Going to place a Ask box in front page
2) Going to add interview question in variety of technologies
3) Making links from other sites may be harder part for me. May be writing Interview related articles and engaging related forums will help, I will try that also.

I always recommend seobook.com . Become a member there (not a paying one, choose the free membership) and they have many really good tips.

Q2A by Gideon will grow very fast I believe, it is an excellent script. May be he will help all of us later with a list of sites.

Hello R, I found anice way to get some more visitors. You can implement the question box to any other site You own. See for example on www.puerto-vallarta-directory.com , mid of main page.
You may try it, seems to work perfectly. Only issue is to make the source site with charset utf8 as well (at least in languages with special characters.)

I am going to add it to some sites this way. Should help.

Please see on q2a the post regarding the sidebar again, there is a problem with utf8 through the code we build. I do not understand how to resolve.
