I have a student from Puebla, Mexico whose name is Jose Tzic.  I wondered what Tzic means.  I know that "tlan" means city.

I needed the afternoon to find it, but here You go:

TZICATLAN could have the meaning of ANTCITY or better PLACE of the ANTS / PLACE where ANTS are.

TZICA means ANT / Hormiga in spanisch and is from the lenguage MEXICANO, spoken by the MEXICAS (not todays mexican)

For any further investigations You may visit this excellent source.

Thanks you so much!!  I really appreciate the trouble you went through.  Is that book on PDF?  Can I download it somehow?  It's really very interesting.
Now I know the boy's last name is ant.  Interesting.  Thanks again!

I dont know if You can download the complete book but at least You can change the site by changing the 092 at the end of the link. Or You can delete the last part after the slash / and a directory with all pdf documents shows up.
